Employee Relations Manager - Lanham, MD - $60k - $70k Job ID: ERM-NK1


The Employee Relations Manager (HRIS Lead) will proactively partner and consult with managers, supervisors, and employees to provide strategic HR expertise in the following areas employee relations, performance management, policy development and administration, and organizational effectiveness. This person will also serve as the lead and liaison with the IT department on HRIS initiatives, process improvements and overall technical needs.

Essential Responsibilities include:

-  Facilitate change and ensure that core HR processes are delivered in a fashion that supports business needs.
-  Consult with management and employees to successfully resolve employee           relations issues such as performance issues, employee complaints, employee discipline, and harassment allegations.
-  Assists management at a strategic level to develop programs and tools aimed at reducing   and preventing employee relations issues.
-  Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
-  Support organization initiatives.
-  Develop a system to analyze attrition and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
-  Consult with line management on recruiting and staffing needs.

-  Assist in the creation of new job descriptions.
-  Partner with Training and Development Department to determine corporate-wide training needs, facilitate and/or provide effective training to the workforce.
-  Serve as the lead HRIS liaison with the IT department by identifying technical process/system improvements and needs for the HR function.
-  Works with payroll to resolve employee payroll issues.
-  Manage one HR Coordinator.
-  Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

-  Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, psychology, or related field.
-  7 years + experience performing Human Resources Generalist duties to include experience in HRIS, recruiting/staffing, compensation, benefits, etc.
-  Related HR certifications such as Professional Human Resource (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR).
-  Experience navigating through FMLA issues.
-  Compensation and benefits administration.
-  Experience conducting interviews, developing recommendations, and resolving complaints.
-  Proven ability to effectively handle complicated involuntary employee separations.
-  Solid knowledge of Federal and State employment laws.
-  Proven ability to manage complex employee relations issues effectively.
-  Strong communication skills (oral, written and listening).
-  Must have poise and confidence to earn credibility with senior management.
-  Ability and willingness to travel to all locations required - about 10-15% travel.
-  Ability and willingness to work extended and non-standard hours as required or during e emergencies.
-  Ability to handle stressful situations, including juggling multiple activities, prioritizing customer needs, and responding to crisis situations.
-  High level proficiency in MS Office software ( Word, Excel, and Power Point).
-  Prior experience in broadcast company highly preferred.
